Orbis is a leading NGO that has been a pioneer in the prevention and treatment of blindness for almost all 40 years. Orbis transforms lives by delivering the skills, resources and knowledge needed to provide accessible quality eye care. In Vietnam, Orbis has been providing the highest level of expertise to support the development of eye care services and blindness prevention– especially in the areas of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), paediatric and Diabetic Retinopathy services and in establishing an eye bank. Since 2015, Orbis has worked to strengthen the eye health system in the country, focusing on the quality of services and human resources.

The Project Strengthening the Glaucoma Examination and Treatment Services in Vietnam of Orbis will partner with the Hanoi Medical University and Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University to strengthen the glaucoma training capacity for ophthalmologists in residency training program. In addition, the project also strengthens the capacity of ophthalmologists in the provinces in examining, detecting, consulting and referring patients with Glaucoma. To contribute to the implementation of the above objectives, the project will equip the Wet-labs of the two universities with medical equipment which is suitable for ophthalmology training.
