Program Manager (Child Sponsorship Program)

At present, Vietnam Country Office has programs in 20 out of 63 provinces in Vietnam.

We are looking for consultancy services for:

  • Vacancy: Program Manager (Child Sponsorship Program)
  • Based in Hanoi (with frequent travels to Lao Cai and additional impact area - TBD)

Main Responsibilities: The post holder works closely with Viet Nam Country Office Senior Management Team (SMT) to meet all sponsorship-related objectives in Viet Nam.  S/he ensures that sponsorship resources are focused on reaching strategic objectives, retaining sponsors, meeting sponsor expectations and adhering to all internal and external policies, standards and procedures. S/he provides overall leadership in development, management and technical support of child sponsorship program, including support for representation in related sectors (such as early childhood development, basic education, adolescent development and school health and nutrition, as well as elements of child protection, child right governance and other sectors as necessary). The post holder also serves as member of extended-SMT (ESMT), representing CS team, providing support to SMT in management decision making.

Key Competencies:

Essentials

  • At least Master’s Degree in Education or related field and minimum of 5 years of experience working with an INGO environment, including experience directing and implementing programs;
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve objectives.
  • Proven written and numerical skills and experience in basic financial information systems (e.g. Excel), budget monitoring, and writing and editing of reports and documents.
  • Proven staff management and supervisory skills
  • Proven attention for detail and ability to effectively manage a high volume of data and information
  • Excellent interpersonal in order to deal tactfully and sensitively with a wide range of people in a large organisation, very often at a distance. Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, to motivate and inspire team work;
  • Good project management skills and experience of problem solving
  • Excellent computer skills including word processing, presentation and use of spread-sheets combined with the ability maintain office and management information systems.
  • A flexible and initiative-taking attitude with the ability to manage an unpredictable workload
  • Demonstrated experience in education thematic area and demonstrated experience in capacity building, technical support, advising and documentation of related program;
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills in English and Vietnamese
  • Excellent people management and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond effectively to challenges, and work effectively in a cross culture environment.
  • Good understanding of challenges facing vulnerable children and communities in Vietnam;
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles/accountability frameworks, especially for work with vulnerable populations;
  • Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think strategically;
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally and nationally as needed.
  • Commitment to and understanding of SCI aims,  values  and principles  including rights-based approaches.

Desirables

  • Knowledge of Save the Children’s key sectors
  • Flexibility and a sense of humour – ability to work, live and thrive in challenging circumstances;
  • Have a very high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness;
  • Experience of working with local government and partners;
  • Experience of working in an emergency setting and/or commitment to build that capacity;
