Program Officer for Social Development

The Asia Foundation is recruiting a Program Officer for Social Development based in Hanoi.

The officer will be responsible for developing and implementing Foundation programs under our Social Development and Gender program, with additional responsibilities relating to governance and public policy programming.

The ideal candidate will be a Vietnamese national with a post graduate degree in the social sciences or relevant work experience. The candidates should possess a thorough understanding of legal, social, and economic development issues in Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region, as well as experience implementing and managing development programs. The position requires:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience
  • Experience in program design and implementation, financial and grants management, and monitoring and evaluation;
  • Strong understanding of governance, advocacy and communication approaches to development programming. Experience in gender, labor, migration or urban governance issues a plus.
  • Experience in working with Vietnamese partner organizations and government agencies to implement and manage international donor-funded development projects;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Vietnamese; Excellence in English language report writing
  • Ability and willingness to master new areas, to take the initiative and to work collaboratively.
