Project Assistant Manager

Good Neighbors is an international, non-profit humanitarian organization that plans, implements and raises funds for the provision of services in child education, community development, health, sanitation, and disaster relief projects. Currently Good Neighbors has been operating in 30 countries, supporting approximately 16.8 million people, including 9.6 million children.

Good Neighbors in Vietnam (GNV) is implementing Community Development Projects (CDP) based on child sponsorship in 3 provinces; Tuyen Quang, Hoa Binh, and Thanh Hoa. GNV is working in main areas such as child sponsorship and education, water and sanitation, income generation, etc. in 9 CDPs and is managing 7,346 sponsored children.

1. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: Country director, Managing director, HO Manager/officer, Project Manager, FO staffs
External: Partners, Governmental Officials, Community beneficiaries

2. MAIN DUTIES

Project Implementation and Management

  • Assisting Project Manager in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating of project activities.
  • Efficiently implement project activities in accordance with approved POA. Assistant Project Manager is responsible to all project activities in his/her managing area.
  • Research new project activities through Participatory Appraisal Process (PAP), interview, data analysis and other methods.
  • Participate in developing short-term and long-term strategic direction for Son Duong 2 and other Community Development Projects (CDP).
  • Prepare yearly Plan of Actions (POA) with local partners.
  • Regularly visit and monitor on all activity’s implementing progress and evaluate the results after completion.
  • Prepare project reports (monthly, bi-annual, annual, activity report…) and submit to Head Office as scheduled after reviewed by the Project Manager.
  • Supporting PM and managing under project officers

Partnership development, Network building and Capacity building

  • Develop a partnership with local governments at district and commune level.
  • Working closely with local CDC members and villagers.
  • Provide capacity building for commune leaders and partners through appropriate instructions and guidance.
  • Promote the participation of the community in GNI’s project activities.

3. REQUIREMENTS

Work experience

  • At least 3 year experience in community development
  • About 2 years working experience as a project officer or equivalent positions at an INGO
  • Experienced in project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation

Technical knowledge/skills   

  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Good organizing skills and interpersonal skills;
  • Good presentation & facilitation skill;
  • Good in English both written and verbal;
  • Good in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Education

  • University degree in Social work, English, Economics, Agriculture or related fields

4. BENEFICIARY:

  • Generally all people living under poverty and close to poverty level in 4 communes (Van Phu, Dong Quy, Dong Loi, Chi Thiet) covered by GNV’s project

In-direct beneficiary:

  • Head Office staffs
  • Field Office staffs
  • CDC members
  • GNV sponsored children in Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province

5. DURATION OF THE POSITION

  • This vacancy is a one year contract.
  • Selected candidate will be considered for contract extension (before the one year contract expire) based on job performance and need of the projects.

6. SALARY AND BENEFIT

  • Net salary: US$250 – US$350 per month.
