About MCD
Centre for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD) is a Vietnamese non-governmental organization and was established in 2003, working in the field of promoting effective management of coastal & marine natural resources and environment, and improving the development of coastal communities, towards sustainable development in the coastal areas.
MCD has had work experience in over ten coastal provinces, mobilized resources for and implemented nearly 80 projects at different scales, cooperated with domestic and international agencies, organizations and enterprises. MCD projects integrate the two key themes of (1) Coastal and marine natural resource management and environment protection; and (2) Sustainable livelihoods and coastal community development. MCD also promotes the integration of cross-cutting issues such as gender equality, marine plastic waste reduction, climate change adaptation, and engagement of youth and communities.
In order to strengthen its workforce, meet human resources demand for new projects and the need to improve the quality of professional activities and organizational development, MCD opens recruitment for a Project Coordinator - Environmental Engineering and Management.
This is an opportunity for a mature professional to work for an organization devoted to the environment and community in implementing development projects, to share interest and to contribute relevant expertise in environmental engineering and management, adaptive management of natural resources for sustainable development of coastal areas.
Job description
- Develop required contents and provide technical coordination, with strong knowledge and experience in natural resources & environmental management, environmental engineering, ecosystem conservation, solid and plastic waste management, for the activities of the assigned projects and general activities of the organization;
- Make project plans and activity plans in close consultation with colleagues, implement and/or coordinate the implementation of the planned activities, monitor, supervise, and report on the activities and projects (including work and fund):
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships, coordinate partners and consultants in the field of natural resources & environment management, environmental engineering, ecosystem conservation, solid and plastic waste management, as required by projects and organizations;
- Cross-coordinate with the related professional teams and supporting units in MCD in planning and implementing tasks;
- Report on activities and projects at the request of MCD and donors; and report to the direct supervisor and MCD leaders when required;
- Contribute expertise and relevant inputs in environmental and natural resource management, ecosystem conservation, solid and plastic waste management, for organizational development including capacity building and fund raising; Participate in resource mobilization and organizational management as assigned;
- Contribute professional contents and practices, and support the implementation of communication activities of projects and the organization;
- Develop and maintain partnerships and network connections in the fields of natural resources & environmental management, ecosystem conservation, environmental engineering, solid and plastic waste management; Participate in promoting cooperation with domestic and foreign partners from the public, private and community sectors for MCD operations.
Qualifications and requirements
- Bachelor degree or postgraduate degree in one or more of the following fields: Environmental engineering, coastal and river engineering, environmental management, environmental science, natural resource management, environmental economics, or related topics;
- At least 7 years of working experience in a related field (experience working with NGOs or development projects is an advantage);
- Have a desire to develop a career related to environmental management, environmental engineering, natural resources management, community development in coastal and marine areas;
- Be able to go for regular field trips in coastal areas, and participate in national, regional and international events;
- Have a desire to further develop in both professional and managerial dimensions;
- Have excellent skills in analysis, synthesis and report writing;
- Have good ability in presentation, social communications and interactions;
- Be competent in computers, internet and social networking applications;
- Be able to work both in teams and independently;
- Be strongly competent in English and Vietnamese languages in all skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing);
- Be honest, sociable, responsible and eager to learn.
Salary and benefits: The selected candidate will receive competitive salary and benefits corresponding to their qualifications, competencies and experience.
Duration: Probationary period of one (1) month. If the probation is successful, an official labour contract will be offered with the initial contract term of 12 months, subject to extension depending on the personal capacity and the needs of the organization.
