Project Coordinator, HIV and Health Equity

The Partnership for Health Advancement in Vietnam (HAIVN)

We seek a dynamic, innovative individual passionate about increasing access to quality care and improving health systems in Vietnam. If you want to partner with physicians and researchers from Harvard Medical School (HMS) and apply your knowledge of the healthcare system to public health programming, this could be the right job for you. We work with clinics, the Ministry of Health, local health authorities, universities, and communities to reduce barriers to HIV treatment and optimize a person-centered and equitable approach to healthcare. To do this, we hire bright individuals who are eager to engage with our team and our partners and apply evidence-based solutions to health care.

The Partnership for Health Advancement in Vietnam (HAIVN) is a project of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Through cooperative agreements with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), our team brings clinical and technical backgrounds toward achieving health equity with a focus on vulnerable populations including LGBTIQ+ and people living with HIV. In Vietnam, many barriers and gaps still exist which prevent people living with HIV and key populations from accessing and using HIV-related services. One important gap has been the ability of the healthcare system to deliver person-centered, equitable, stigma-free care that meets the specific needs of key populations and other vulnerable groups. Our team works to tackle this problem by working with key stakeholders in the medical education and healthcare delivery sectors. This position will contribute to eliminating healthcare-related stigma, training the next generation of Vietnamese physicians, scaling up people-centered HIV services, and ending AIDS in Vietnam by 2030.

The Project Coordinator will also provide expertise and coordinate technical assistance of HMS faculty to integrate the contents of diversity, inclusiveness, equity, social determinants of health into the curricula of the medical universities.
