DE DANSKE SKOVDYRKERFORENINGER (DDS) Vietnam was established in 2014 by Danish Forestry Extension (DFE) and funded by the Danish Organization Civil Society in Development (CISU) to implement the project “More trees project”. The project is now part of an international synergy program with the following objective: Local communities, including school children, have an in-depth understanding of natural resources, have equitable access, and have the skills to responsibly collaborate, conserve and manage them, contributing to overall poverty reduction as well as social, economic and ecosystem resilience supported by relevant policy framework/s.DDS Vietnam is implementing the program in Viet Nam with a strong focus on commercial small holder farm forestry in the provinces of Ha Tinh and Hoa Binh. DDS Vietnam now seeks a project officer to strengthen the market linkage between the farmers and three forestry cooperatives and assess the potential for FSC certification.

Position information

Position title:    Project officer
Reporting to:    Project office Manager
Contract:          Seven months contract with potential for extension
Work station:   Ha Noi office
Working time: 37, 5 hours per week
Working start: June 2018
Salary: Negotiation

Position Description

The Project Officer works in cooperation with the Project Office manager and provincial coordinators mainly to coordinate and conduct activities in the field in Ha Tinh, Hoa Binh provinces. Activities include stakeholder meetings with farmers, private sector etc., collect and analyze relevant data and information of forestry especially forest stewardship certificate (FSC), visit forest plantation to assess production models, analyze budgets and provide estimations in excel, gather information and write a scoping report.

Assist Project office Manager and consultants to:

1. Support project stakeholders to implement annual working plan of project
2. Conduct study on marketing of forestry products in Ha Tinh and Hoa Binh provinces
3. Conduct pre-feasibility study FSC products and develop a guideline include a roadmap to get FSC for forest smallholders in Ha Tinh and Hoa Binh provinces

Selection criteria:

1. Have at least three years’ experience working in similar tasks and positions in forestry sector
2. Ability to work effectively both as a team member and individually with minimal supervision
3. Mature, responsible behaviors and strategic thinking
4. Good computer skills on Word, Excel and e-mail applications
5. Good communication and interpersonal skills
6. Good documentation and writing skills
7. Good local language skills: Fluent in Vietnamese and preferable well-spokenin English
