Project Officer

Job title: Project Officer
Employer: Animals Asia Foundation (AAF)
Part-time post: 2 to 3 days/week
Location: Dak Lak province
Salary: US$ 300-500/month
Duration of Position: 2 years (extendable)
Direct report: Animal Welfare Department Manager
Primary objective: To build positive relations with partner organisations to further our animal welfare, educational and conservation goals.

Dak Lak Government (Agriculture department, Culture and Tourism department, External Affairs department)

  • Arrange paperwork to ensure Animals Asia operate in accordance with government regulations including visit permits
  • Arrange and attend relevant meetings and provide updates on AAF work in the region
  • Develop partnership opportunities to promote our aims

Elephant Conservation Centre (ECC)

  • Arrange paperwork to ensure Animals Asia and consultants can provide advice and support to ECC
  • Arrange and attend relevant meetings and provide updates on AAF work in partnership with ECC

Yok Don National Park

  • Arrange paperwork to ensure Animals Asia operate within the regulations of the national park
  • Liaise with tourism department and provide support to improve the quality of the ethical elephant tours
  • Arrange and attend relevant meetings and provide updates on AAF work in partnership with YDNP

Buon Don People's Committee

  • Liaise with committee members to discuss AAF work in the region and opportunities to involve and provide benefit to the local community

Elephant owners in Lak

  • Liaise with elephant owners and mahouts to discuss opportunities to involve and provide benefits to the local community

Tourism Companies

  • Discuss implementation of welfare recommendations
  • Negotiate renting contracts for elephants and mahouts

Other administrative responsibilities

  • Support Animal Welfare Department Manager with administrative works
  • Contribute activities to the departmental working reports and perform other duties as required

Continuous improvement

  • Contribute to the on-going review, development and implementation of changes to improve the productivity and efficiency of Animals Asia
  • Participate in staff training and performance and development appraisal process to assist in the achievement of Animals Asia objectives and mission

Miscellaneous

  • Promote and advocate Animals Asia to the counter-partners
  • Follow established Animals Asia procedures and policies

  • Degree in administration or at least 3 years’ experience of working with NGO or governmental agencies.
