Working location: Head Office of MCD in Hanoi and areas of MCD’s operation in coastal zone
About MCD
Centre for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD) is a Vietnamese non-governmental organization and was established in 2003, working in the field of promoting effective management of coastal & marine natural resources and environment, and improving the development of coastal communities, towards sustainable development in the coastal areas.
MCD has had work experience in over ten coastal provinces, mobilized resources for and implemented nearly 80 projects at different scales, cooperated with domestic and international agencies, organizations and enterprises. MCD projects integrate the two key themes of (1) Coastal and marine natural resource management and environment protection; and (2) Sustainable livelihoods and coastal community development. MCD also promotes the integration of cross-cutting issues such as gender equality, marine plastic waste reduction, climate change adaptation, and engagement of youth and communities.
In order to strengthen its workforce, meet human resources demand for new projects and the need to improve the quality of professional activities and organizational development, MCD opens recruitment for a Project Officer - Fisheries Management and sustainable livelihood.
Job description
- Plan, implement, monitor, supervise and report activities related to fisheries management and sustainable livelihood development, apply technology in data monitoring and aquatic product traceability, as required by projects serving the
MCD’s mission. - Coordinate technical expertise, capacity building, implement initiatives and improve policy implementation related to fisheries management and sustainable livelihoods development.
- Participate in implementing technical studies and evaluations, project communication and documentation activities according to related requirements and topics (applying technology in fisheries management, production chains products, labour safety, sustainable livelihoods, climate change adaptation, etc) and MCD communications;
- Organize the implementation of project works in localities, coordinate and cooperate with relevant partners.
- Maintain the implementation and application of project management systems in MCD to ensure compliance and increase efficiency of planning, monitoring and reporting on projects;
- Promote the participation and cooperation of the parties including the Government, the Fishermen Community, Enterprises, research agencies and cooperative networks, develop the program and organization development;
- Participate in capacity building and resources mobilization in related areas and appropriate expertise.
- Perform other duties when requested from the Board of Directors.
Qualifications and requirements
- Bachelor degree or postgraduate degree in one or more of the following fields: fisheries, economics; technology; environmental economics; environmental resource management; sustainable development, or related topics; At least 3 years of working experience in a related field;
- Interest and understand the fields of fisheries, policies and practices including aquaculture and fishing, sustainable livelihood development in coastal areas, gender;
- Be able to use English proficiency in communication and work (speaking and writing skills);
- Understand and interest in electronic technology applications in fisheries management and livelihood development, including traceability and data analysis;
- Have experience and skills in project operation coordination and management;
- Be able to research, analytical skills, synthesis and reporting;
- Have good ability in presentation, social communications;
- Be eager to learn and share, work in team, be able to go for field trips in Vietnam and foreign countries.
Salary and benefits: The selected candidate will receive competitive salary and benefits corresponding to their qualifications, competencies and experience.
Duration: Probationary period of one (1) month. If the probation is successful, an official labour contract will be offered with the initial contract term of 12 months, subject to extension depending on the personal capacity and the needs of the organization.
