Project Officer/Assistant (consultant)

WWF Vietnam Country Programme is one country component of the WWF Greater Mekong and is the implementing arm for projects in Vietnam mainly in Central Annamites, Southern Annamites and the Mekong Delta. Our major activities focus on Freshwater, Forestry, Marine and Aquaculture, Agriculture and Agroforestry, Policy and Advocacy.

They are currently seeking for an well-qualified and experienced candidate to fill a full-time position of Project Officer/Assistant (consultant), Forest Restoration. The position will be based in Quang Nam province.

Main responsibilities:
The Project Officer/Assistant provides support to the Silviculture Manager in the planning, management, implementation, monitoring and reporting of project activities to ensure compliance with the Project Document and WWF’s contractual obligations and ensure close collaboration between the project management, partners and other relevant stakeholders in the project sites.
In details, Project Officer/Assistant, Forest Restoration is responsible to facilitate participatory forest land use planning, allocation of natural forest to communities and community forest management in selected villages in the forest corridors, agree and adopt participatory management plans within a natural resource management under this project. In addition, the post shall support forestry plantings and planning, nurseries and development of the commune development funds and associated development activities under the project

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry, conservation, natural resource management, bioregional planning, environmental, or in relevant fields
- 3 years of practical experience as Project Officer/Assistant, 2 years of which should be in related fields
- Additional courses on Project Management and business and marketing are advantages
- Knowledge of conservation and natural resource management issues in Viet Nam, especially in related fields
- Working knowledge of policy/institutional context in related field in Viet Nam
- Knowledge of the realities of government agencies, development partners, donor institutions, and the not-for-profit sector in the  project
- Knowledge of WWF structure, priorities and procedures as well as WWF's ecoregional approach to conservation
- Knowledge of M&E methodology, quality assurance
- Knowledge of WWF’s PPMS is an advantage
- Experienced in VLUP, site mapping and CFM (similar to the approach applied in the KfW projects will be advantage);
- Experience of working with Government officials, local communities and/or donors at all levels
- Familiarity with the project area and local residence will be an asset
- Experienced with using and interpreting forest maps, satellite images
- Experienced in community forest management;
- Experience of village or commune development planning preferable;
- Experience of working INGOs or the United Nations or bilateral development agencies is an advantage
- Experience for working with environmental planning, policy and regulations will be preferred
