Proposal Writing Consultant

The German Red Cross is part of the world wide Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement assisting victims of conflict and disaster and people affected by social or health related crisis. The Red Cross movement provides to vulnerable people assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions and adheres to the seven principles of the Red Cross movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality.

We assist in disaster response, rehabilitation and capacity building projects internationally on appeals of their sister national society within the Movement.

We are seeking a short-term proposal writer on a temporary consultancy basis with demonstrated skill, expertise and experience for writing proposals to donors.

Contract type and duration: 5 working days (22 – 26 July)

Location: Hanoi

Required language proficiency: English

Starting date: 22 July 2013

Roles and responsibilities
- In close collaboration with project design team, serve as the writer and/or editor of a proposal:

1) Substantive editing: reorganizing material, adding or deleting information, revising major sections of text and asking authors/design team to address questions and concerns
2) Copy editing: revising text to make it clear, concise, correct, consistent and coheren based on the requirements and assigned template

- Organize visual and numerical information in presentable format

Selection criteria
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Demonstrated writing and editing skills appropriate for proposal submissions
- Good technical knowledge of developmental issues, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and/or urban development
- Ability to create an engaging and compelling text while maintaining technical accuracy and adhering to page limitation
- Ability to analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative information
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
