Psycho-Social Expert

Time period:      Short term assignment—4 months (May to August 2011)
Duty station:      This position will be based in Hanoi, Vietnam and will report directly to the Country Representative of Hagar Vietnam
Benefits:           Salary will be based upon commensurate experience and funding availability
Purpose:            The Psycho-Social Expert will be responsible for supporting the capacity development of social workers and counsellors working directly with victims of human trafficking and domestic violence.

Activities:
- This project includes an assessment of psycho-social micro-skills, including but not limited to: intake interviewing, psycho-social assessment, and basic counselling.
- Conduct trainings/coaching on relevant topics based upon the outcomes of the assessment.  Topics may include but are not limited to: crisis intervention, trauma recovery, and individual care plans.  Together with social workers and counsellors, develop a long-term capacities development plan.
- Support social workers and counselors with regular on-site supervision, feedback and technical support during the duration of the project.
- Facilitate community-wide trainings for NGO and government organizations addressing issues related to gender based violence and human trafficking

Selection Criteria:
- Master’s level or above in Psychology, Social Work or related field.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in clinical social work/psychology
- Experience in training and clinical supervision
- Flexibility, cultural sensitivity and ability to work in diverse and challenging contexts
- Fluent in English, Advanced Vietnamese language skills desirable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self motivated and able to work with limited supervision
- Responds constructively to direction and feedback
- Ability and willingness to work under pressure as part of a professional team.
