Request for Proposal to Design and conduct forest inventory for Con Cuong State Forest Company (SFC)

The USAID-funded "Lowering Emissions in Asia Forests" program is being implemented by Winrock International, the Netherlands Development Organisation – SNV, Climate Focus and RECOFTC – The Center for People and Forests, in six countries: Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea. The Vietnam LEAF Project was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development approved in Decision No. 1006/QD-BNN-HTQT, dated on May 4th, 2012. VNFOREST was assigned as the project owner, while the coordinating agencies include: the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Nghe An province; the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong Province; Netherlands Development Organisation - SNV; Winrock International and Climate Focus.
Regarding REDD+ readiness, the LEAF project will support the Con Cuong FSC to have a high quality forest status map and forest inventory. The main objective is to design and conduct the forest inventory for forest resources of the Con Cuong SFC, including taking inventoryto collect information about theforest type, stratifing by tree species and forest statusby timber volume, and collecting information on ABG carbon stocks. Information needs to be collected at the smallest forest management unit (plots) with a  target accuracy of +/- 20% at a 90% confidence interval according to the guidance of the MARD  (circular: TT 25/2009 BNNPTNT and decision QD 487/2007 BNNPTNT) for the Con Cuong  Forestry Company ( area of 8413 ha).
The complete map of the state of forests and forest resources survey should be carried out in the period from December 2012 - February2013. Progress reports should be submitted to the LEAF team regularly, after each stage of work has completed.
