SNV Vietnam is looking for Research Assistant

Based in Hanoi, Vietnam with travel to other provinces (Consultancy contract)

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalyzing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+(Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation).

SNV in international partnership with BoP Innovation Center, Venture Capital for Africa (VC4A), and Nyenrode Business University manage Inclusive Business Accelerator Vietnam (IBA) project.

Inclusive Business Accelerator Vietnam (IBA) is the first one-stop shop in the country for various services needed by businesses which include low-income groups in their operations. We use innovative acceleration models to make the businesses investor-ready. Our scope of services include: Market Intelligence & Opportunity Identification, Business Design & Readiness, and Investor – Investee Match-making.

There are two types of engagement with the IBA: 1/ IBA Acceleratee Program, a special service package for inclusive businesses with 9-12 months of time commitment; and 2/ IBA Non-Acceleratee Program, another package that offers tailored-made services upon request. We are active in agribusiness, sustainable energy, water, and ICT innovations.

We are seeking a highly-qualified candidate to fill in the position of Research Assistant to support the IBA team.

Responsibilities

• Implement the market/opportunity scanning and data collection on enterprises, development agencies, donors and investors whose are potential clients and partners for IBA program;
• Support in financial/investment analysis, business plan development;
• Participate in research, data analysis and assessments on various parts of enterprises’ business operations;
• Support IBA team with organizing events to call for applications, create match-making between investors and investees, and develop mentor network;
• Monitor service providers’ activities;
• Support IBA team in monitoring and evaluation of financial and social impacts created by IBA’s clients; 
• Assist IBA team in administrative issues such as meeting arrangements, meeting minutes; archive systems;
• Other duties as required and may include, but not limited to, translation, communication activities, internal review and other project-related implementation activities.

Candidate profile

• University degree in Finance or Business Administration. Overseas education would be an advantage;
• At least 1 year of work experience in corporate finance advisory, investment analysis, and/or research;
• Strong in financial and data analysis;
• Willingness to travel to project sites on a regular basis;
• Proactive and creative in solving problems;
• Strong ability to work independently, be hardworking and a team player;
• Good organizational skills and interpersonal skills;
• Good oral and written communication skills in English;
• Good computer skills in Excel and Power Point.

Contract Duration:  SNV Vietnam offers one-year consultancy contract with the possibility of extension subject to work performance
