Research Assistant
The Vietnam National Lung Hospital (VNLH) and the National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP), under the Ministry of Health, are responsible for coordinating and managing national and external resources to support TB control activities in Vietnam. The Project “Addressing TB Control and Lung Health Activities through Vietnam Lung Hospital”was developed in response to funding opportunity No CDC-RFA-PS11-1110and CDC-RFA-PS-11-004 of the U.S. CDC.The Project, comprising a research and a non-research cooperative agreement (CoAg), aims to improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of tuberculosis prevention and control and lung health programs in Vietnam. This employment opportunity seeks candidates for the Research CoAg.
Project Implementation Strategy:
Research CoAg:Evaluating Enhanced TB Infection Control Intervention in Healthcare Facilities in Vietnam (ENTIC study)
Project duration: April 2012- September 2014
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Duties:
a) Under the supervision of Project Coordinators, travel to hospital sites to conduct data
collection at designated times according to study protocol
b) Provide secretarial support to the team (e.g., word processing, filing, faxing, receiving
and directing visitors, etc.)
c) Prepare monthly budget plan according to the work plan prepared by Project
Coordinators.
d) Track cooperative agreement study budget, prepare monthly disbursement data for
submission to CDC-VN cooperative agreement staff
e) Coordinate travel and meeting arrangements
f) With direction from Project Coordinator, place orders for supplies and services and
coordinate purchasing process
g) Assist in customs clearing and transportation of IGRA reagent to study labs
h) Assist with study filing system
i) Keep study inventory record
j) Take minutes of administrative meetings
k) Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Education, working experience, languages and skills
All applicants are instructed to address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
a) Bachelor’s degree in Public Health (MPH) or related field is required.
b) At least one year experience in providing programmatic support for public health
projects. Experience with the Vietnam HIV/AIDS response and knowledge of the
related institutional environment and knowledge and experience in TB infection
control are desirable.
c) Good knowledge of the principles of management of public health programs and
practices. Familiarity with HIV/AIDS programs, the Vietnamese government system,
including with MOH, PEPFAR, CDC Global AIDS Program and other related
programs and policies is preferred.
d) Skills in coordination, communication and relationships with colleagues.
e) Strong computer skills, including use of Excel, PowerPoint, and Access are essential.
Ability to generate, organize, and conduct simple data analysis is essential.
f) Being able to travel for approximately 30-40% of time.
g) English proficiency (reading/speaking/writing skills)
