Research Assistant for a Study on Comprehensive Care

Since 2009, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in cooperation with the KfW Development Bank, supports the Ministry of Health in the framework of the Programme “Strengthening Provincial Health Systems” in implementing the Vietnamese strategies for improving access of all population groups to high quality health services. The programme operates on several levels, advising provincial and district health authorities as well as hospital management teams in demand-oriented and cost-efficient planning and modern management methods. Targeted in-service training measures in selected preventive and curative services and the introduction of integrated quality management mechanisms all strengthen the capacities of healthcare personnel and improve the services provided by the health facilities. Experience at provincial level is fed into the national policy dialogue to drive the development of national guidelines and standards.

Quality of care is greatly dependent on the skills and experience of the persons who provide assistance to patients during recovery. However, in Vietnam and in many hospitals around the world, the understanding and application of Comprehensive Care is yet to be enhanced. Therefore, exploring the parameters and logics (health personnel, patients and family carers) that determine the quality of care in hospitals and health facilities is crucial.
