Research Consultants - Workplace Gender Equality Case Study

Abt Associates is a mission-driven, global leader in research, evaluation and implementing programs in the fields of health, social and environmental policy, and international development. We work with our clients to implement bold, innovative solutions to improve the lives of the community and deliver valued outcomes for our clients. Abt Associates is regularly ranked as one of the top 20 global research firms and one of the top 40 international development innovators.  We provide a comprehensive range of services from policy to service delivery in the public and private sectors, contributing to long term benefits for clients and communities.  Abt Associates is an organisation that has a personal commitment to its staff and as such we value the long-term relationships that we build with the people who work for us.

Program Overview

Investing in Women is managed by Abt Associates on behalf of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The Initiative seeks to address barriers to women’s economic empowerment in Southeast Asia in the workplace, in business, in policy and regulations, and in the social and societal norms that underpin inequality.  The program is being implemented in four countries in South East Asia: the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Myanmar.

By working through Business Coalitions and their member firms, Component 1 (Business Partnerships) aims to influence large employers to increase gender diversity and adopt more gender equitable work practices within their organisations. By providing an evidence-based business case for promoting greater women’s economic empowerment and showcasing effective organisational practice it is envisaged that over time large employers will take the lead in encouraging other organisations to adopt similar practices.

The Program is making a significant investment in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning across the program. Within Component 1, the flagship MEL investment is a series of organisational case studies that will unpack the factors shaping change in workplace gender equality, and identify knock-on impacts (positive and negative) for team/organisational performance, and women’s economic empowerment. The WGE Case Study Researchers will be central to this work.

The position will be home-based, with regular travel to offices of the case study firms in Jakarta, Manila, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and Yangon.
