Vacancy for a RESEARCHER/ Center for Advanced Studies in Economics and Data Science (CASED)

About our Center

With the need for high-quality training among college students, lecturers, and researchers of economics, finance, business administration, together with the market demand for staff capacity in data science, in 2019, Professor Le Van Cuong (from the French National Center for Scientific Research) and Dr Nguyen Ngoc Anh (from the Development and Policies Research Center - DEPOCEN) established the Center for Advanced Studies in Economics and Data Science (CASED) as a non-profit training and research center.

CASED aims to provide training courses specially designed for Vietnamese students, lecturers, researchers with the need of high-quality training in economics, finance, business administration and data science. CASED’s most highlighted training programme is the Pre-Master/PhD in Economics. In additional, CASED has provided series of short training courses on data science, public policies and social science, such as Data Wrangling & Visualization with R, Data Analysis in Stata, Causal Inference and Public Policy, Bootcamp in Mathematics for Economics. CASED has a strong and wide network of reputed economists and experts all over the world that help to organize more than 30 economic and non-economic workshops and seminars so far. CASED also provides technical and financial supports for PhD students and young researchers.

The position

CASED is currently leveraging research activities in economics, socio-economics and/or related fields, apart from conducted training activities and scientific workshops. We are now seeking enthusiastic, dedicated and committed Vietnamese individuals to join our team with the position of Researcher(s) working at office in Ha Noi, Viet Nam.

Type: Full-time

Main responsibilities

  • To develop research ideas, research proposals in economics, socio-economics;
  • To organize the implementation of research projects and to monitor the progress of research;
  • To produce research reports and publications based on relevant research/study results;
  • To organize workshops, scientific seminars in economics and/or related fields;
  • To expand the scientific network of CASED and to coordinate research cooperation and collaboration between CASED and other economic research institutions, universities;
  • To assist Professor Le Van Cuong and Dr Nguyen Ngoc Anh in other research activities.

Qualifications and Skills required

  • At least holding a Master Degree in Economics and/or related fields. PhD in Economics and/or other related fields is an advantage. Foreign degrees are preferred;
  • Experience conducting or participating in research projects in economics and/or related fields. Expertise in socio-economics research, economic models and data analysis are highly desirable;
  • Having publications in reputed international scientific journal is an advantage;
  • Proficiency in professional statistical software and programming including R, STATA, etc.;
  • Critical thinking, excellent writing and analytical skills;
  • Excellent command in English.
