Selection Assistant

BACKGROUND
Passerelles numériques, a non-profit organisation, is dedicated to helping as many young people as possible from disadvantaged backgrounds obtain education and qualified employment in the IT sector.

Established in Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam, Passerelles numériques currently trains 450 students and hopes to train 750 over the next 3 years. Passerelles numériques employs 75 people based in these three countries, as well as a small team in France.

Passerelles numériques depends on the financial support and skills of a number of partners such as Microsoft, HP, Accenture, Steria, Econocom, Altedia and Osiatis, as well as donations from individuals.

The project in Viet Nam began in 2010 in partnership with East Meets West (EMW) and the Software Development Center (SDC) of Da Nang University. There are currently 118 young people from under-privileged families from the central region of Viet Nam who have joined this program. In September 2013, 90 new students will join our training.

Job Description

Passerelles numériques is looking for a selection assistant for the training center in Da Nang.Under the direct supervision of the education manager of the Center and in collaboration with de selection officer, he/she will be required to support the different steps of the selection process for the next batch of students.

Role & Responsibilities

1.Join the next steps of our selection process
Written test and interviews:
- Work with relevant departments to make sure that written tests are available for conducting testing.
- Work with schools to organize written test and interviews in an appropriate manner. Keep the schools informed of each steps of the selection process.
- Go to the schools in the targeted provinces to supervise the written tests and lead interviews.
Social investigation:
- Support the education team for developing a social investigation grid with relevant criteria.
- Conduct social investigation in the families of selected students to define their social rank with regard to PNV methodology.
2.Reporting
- Do the data inputs for the whole selection process from information sessions, written test result, interview records, family visit record, the ranking of students and segregated the data for boys, girls, provinces, high schools, ethnic minority groups…for reference.
- Ensure that data for selection are updated and documents are filed in a systematic way.

Skills and Experience

General skills

- Required Bachelor degree
- 2-year experience in social work would be highly appreciated
- Good communication skills / organization skills
- Capacity to build and keep good relationship with our partners (NGO’s, schools, Study Promotion Association…)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook...
- Good level of English (spoken and written language will be English)

Specific skills

- Good capacity of adaptation
- Ready to travel in mountainous areas
- Must be dedicated and involved to the project
- Confident to handle complex situation during the selection trips
- Rigorous, demanding and have an analytical mind
- Good socio-economic knowledge of Vietnam will be a plus.contact
