1. BACKGROUND
Passerelles numériques (PN), a non-profit organisation, is dedicated to enabling the largest number of youths in a precarious situation access to training and qualified employment in Information Technology.
Established in Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam, Passerelles numériques currently trains 555 students and aims to train 750 in the next three years. PN employs 96 people based in these three countries including a small team in France.
Passerelles numériques relies on the financial and skills sponsorship of several corporate partners such as Accenture, Econocom-Osiatis, CA Technologies and Microsoft and also receives support from individual donors.
The project in Viet Nam began in 2010 in partnership with East Meets West (EMW) and the Software Development Center (SDC) of Da Nang University. There are currently 88 young people from under-privileged families from the central region of Viet Nam who have joined this program. In September 2014, 60 new students will join our training.

2. JOB DESCRIPTION
Passerelles numériques is looking for an intern to support the Selection team of the training center in Da Nang.
Under the d?rect supervision of the Selection Officer of the Center, he/she will be required to support the different steps of the selection process for the next batch of students.
The Selection is run in 7 provinces of central Vietnam so this position requires a lot of traveling on the field. Some trips will require traveling by motorbike in mountainous areas.
3. ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Join different steps of the selection process
Written test and Interviews:
- Support the Selection Team to prepare all the materials & logistic needed for the written test and interview trips.
- Work with schools to organize written tests and interviews in an appropriate manner. Keep the schools informed of each steps of the selection process.
- Together with the Selection Team, go to the schools in the targeted provinces to supervise the written tests and do related tasks.
- Interpret the interviews with students from Vietnamese to English and vice versa.
Social Investigation:
- Support the Selection Team to prepare all the materials & logistic needed for the Social Investigation trips.
- Assist the Selection team to conduct social investigation in the families of selected students with regard to PNV methodology.
- Participate to the Selection Committee to debrief about the Social Investigation.
Reporting:
- Do the data inputs for the whole selection process from information sessions, written test result, interview records, family visit record, the ranking of students and segregated the data for boys, girls, provinces, high schools, ethnic minority groups…for reference.
- Translate documents from Vietnamese to English / English to Vietnamese.
- Do other administrative tasks for the Selection Team as required such as preparing & ensuring sufficient quantity of communication materials, filling incoming and outgoing letters, making advance payment and claiming expenses for the trips.
4. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
General skills
- Student in University of Foreign languages
- Good communication skills / organization skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook...
- Excellent level of English
Specific skills
- Good capacity of adaptation
- Ready to travel in mountainous areas
- Must be dedicated and involved to the project
- Rigorous, demanding and have an analytical mind
- Good socio-economic knowledge of Vietnam will be a plus.
