Senior Accountant

The Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) is a Vietnamese non-government organization (VNGO) and committed to empower disadvantaged communities in rural and mountainous areas to adapt to the changing environment and sustainably manage their own livelihood systems in an equal and compassionate society.

Founded in 2006, SRD has conducted nearly 50 projects with the main focus on Sustainable Agriculture, Rural Livelihoods, Climate Change, Local Governance and Pro-Poor Policy Advocacy. SRD has also been a founding member and chair of major local networks including VNGO&CC, VNGO-FLEGT, and an active member of many other local/regional networks and policy forums.

We are currently looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Senior Accountant, based in Hanoi office. SRD offers good opportunities for working, learning and sharing within the dynamic team of SRD.

Overall Responsibilities:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

1.Supervises Accountant in preparing journal entries and accounting vouchers
2.Be in charge of VAT declaration and refund for projects
3.Controls budget of projects;
4.Support Program teams preparing budget for new projects;
5.Prepares financial reports for projects periodic (monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, annually)
6.Be in charge of accountability and correspondent with donors, partners related to project financial and
7.Conducts financial training, internal review for project partners;
8.Prepares for external audit and coordinate the audit process;
9.Analyses finance information, make recommendations, while preparing financial reports;
10.Resolves accounting discrepancies and irregularities;
11.Ensures financial data and records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies, procedures; with relevant laws and regulations;
12.Performs other related work as required.

Qualification requirement:

- Bachelor or higher degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant subjects;
- At least five years of professional experience in accounting, project financial management, fundamental controllership are required
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles.
- Good knowledge of auditing practices and principles
- Experience in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing, taxation (VAT & PIT);
- Good knowledge of Vietnamese laws on labor, social & health insurance and personal income tax and other relevant applicable laws, codes and regulations
- Fluency in both written and spoken English required.
- Good computer skills of Excel, Words, PowerPoint, and especially of the accounting computer software applications, preferably ACCPAC software;
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and to take initiative as well as  ability to work in a team
- Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and drive for results.
- Previous experience of working for a non-government organization (NGO) will be an advantage.
- Skills on communications and problem solving.

Remuneration:
Net income would be from $USD700-1.000 per month depending on qualifications and competitiveness.
