Senior Advisor Agri-Business

Based in one of the Central Highland provinces or in Hochiminh city, Vietnam

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalyzing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+(Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation).

Inclusive Business is a business-led initiative that co-developed by SNV and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). This is to integrate the low-income population into the supply chain of the company as suppliers, employees, distributors and/or consumers that generate win-win solutions for both, economic benefits for the company and job and income increase for the low-income population. In preparation for development of its inclusive and sustainable agriculture supply chain projects, SNV is looking for a dynamic candidate to fill in the post of Senior Advisor Agri-Business with the following profile.

Responsibilities

- Develop and implement Sustainable Supply Chain Development models  with  agribusinesses, service providers and small holder producers in the Central Highland in Vietnam
- Involve in the baseline and market studies, value chain assessment, development of service market and improvement of enabling environment for sustainable agriculture production strategies 
- Further strengthen SNV´s niche and reputation in the Agri-business sector among key stakeholders in Vietnam
- Explore, establish and maintain effective partnerships with the key stakeholders
- Prepare project progress reports and project references
- Network, liaise and play a leadership role with international businesses and donors
- Facilitate the learning and development of agriculture certification scheme in Vietnam context
- Capture, structure and document both explicit and tacit knowledge in our advisory role
- Participate in external and internal networks that contribute to the development of approaches and practical tools for the SNV Agriculture programs.

Candidate profile

- Vietnamese citizen
- Master degree in Business Administration, Agricultural Business Management, Agricultural Economics
- 7 years of working experience in agro-economics, business management or private sector in Agri-business
- Experience working with farmer group and/or coffee or spice development programs is a plus
- Good understanding of field realities; ability to link different professional spheres: business, government, development and funding agencies
- Good network with local government organizations
- Cross cultural skills and management experience of multiple complex tasks.
- Experience in facilitation of supply chain development with application of agriculture certification scheme
- Strong facilitation skills and excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent spoken and written Vietnamese and English
- Good computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel, Internet, Email)

Contract Duration: One-year associate consultancy with possibility of extension will be offered to the final candidate subject to donor approval of this project.
