Senior Advisor Aquaculture/Program Leader

Based in Hochiminh city with frequent travel to Can Tho, Vietnam

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalyzing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+.
SNV Viet Nam is expanding its work into the aquaculture sector, and is therefore looking for a dynamic and experienced Aquaculture Program Leader. He/she will provide content leadership to a team of SNV advisors, develop new programs, oversee implementation of current programs and lead fundraising for new SNV aquaculture programmes.

Responsibilities
- Project management and team leadership
- Oversight of SNV’s aquaculture program
- Project management of designated aquaculture projects ensuring they achieve set targets
- Leadership and coaching of the aquaculture team
- ‘Management for Results’ monitoring and financial management as per SNV standards
- Manage liaison with project financiers and project partners

Advisory services
- Provide technical advice and facilitation services to program and project clients
- Promote and participate in public-private partnerships for aquaculture sector development

- Strategic positioning and network development
- Contribute to the development of SNV’s portfolio on Aquaculture in Vietnam
- Strengthen networks with private sector partners and relevant organisations
- Resource mobilization activities for SNV Vietnam as per set targets

Knowledge development
- Contribute to the documentation of best practices in the form of case studies, publications, and presentation on aquaculture in national/international fora
- Identify new knowledge sources for clients and team members

Candidate profile
- Master degree in a field related to aquaculture, economics, and business development
- Minimum 7 years of proven track record in aquaculture and/or related work at international level in developing countries or countries in transition, preferably in Asia
- Minimum 3 years proven project management experience
- Experience in advisory and capacity development services
- Knowledge and experience in developing sustainable supply chains in aquaculture
- Experience in working with multi stakeholder partnerships with private sector and knowledge of inclusive business approaches
- Knowledge and experience with gender and equity issues related to aquaculture
- Experience in resource mobilisation and acquisition.
- Entrepreneurial skills, strong leadership and coaching skills
- Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
- Willingness to travel regularly within Vietnam, and other countries in Asia

Contract Duration: SNV Vietnam offers a one-year associate consultancy contract with the possibility of extension and a competitive salary package.
Desired start date: 1st February 2012

Educational facilities: There are international schooling systems up to IB level in English and French in Hochiminh city.
Security situation: Very good; peace and security throughout the country.
