Senior Aquaculture Officer and Project Officer for SWITCH ASIA Project

WWF is one of the world's largest and most respected independent conservation organizations, with almost 5 million supporters and a global network active in over 100 countries. WWF-Vietnam is one country component of the WWF Greater Mekong and is the implementing arm for projects in Vietnam mainly in Central Annamites, Southern Annamites and the Mekong Delta. Our major activities focus on Freshwater, Forestry, Marine and Aquaculture, Agriculture and Agroforestry, Policy and Advocacy.

SWITCH ASIA or also called “Establishing a Sustainable Pangasius Supply Chain in Vietnam” project is to establish a sustainable pangasius supply chain in Vietnam, which is fully in line with the objective to promote pangasius sustainable growth by closely working with pangasius small and medium enterprises (SMEs). WWF will mobilize its network of EU buyers to drive promoting sustainable practices through the progressive requirement of the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Pangasius Standard.

To support for the implementation of SWITCH ASIA, we are currently seeking for well-qualified and experienced Vietnamese candidates for 2 full-time  positions, based in Can Tho city, as below:

01 SENIOR AQUACULTURE OFFICER, SWITCH ASIA PROJECT (BASED IN CANTHO):

Main responsibilities: Providing support to the Aquaculture Coordinator in the planning, management, implementation, monitoring and reporting of WWF-Vietnam’s work in this project. He/She will work closely with project partners: Vietnam Cleaner Production Centre (VNCPC), Hanoi University of Science and Technology; Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP); WWF-Austria and relevant stakeholders including pangasius producers, local and national government agencies and relevant organizations, to ensure the targets set in the Project Document will be achieved fully, and on time.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in aquaculture, aquatic biology, environmental economics and/or relevant fields.
- Good knowledge of aquaculture, conservation and natural resource management issues in Viet Nam, especially in related fields
- 5 years of practical experience as (Senior) Project Officer, 2 years of which should be in related fields
- Experience of working and negotiating with SMEs, Government officials and/or donors at all levels.
- Proven record in project proposal development, project M&E, and report writing.
- Good interpersonal, communication and diplomatic skills with the ability to manage and interact at all levels of an international, multicultural and multilingual organization; Excellent English skills

01 PROJECT OFFICER, SWITCH ASIA PROJECT (BASED IN CANTHO):

Main responsibilities: Providing support to the Senior Aquaculture Officer in the planning, management, implementation, monitoring and reporting of project activities to ensure compliance with the Project Document and WWF’s contractual obligations and ensure close collaboration between the project management, partners and other relevant stakeholders in the project sites.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in aquaculture, conservation, natural resource management, bioregional planning, environmental, or in relevant fields
- Good knowledge of aquaculture, conservation and natural resource management issues in Viet Nam, especially in related fields
- 3 years of practical experience as Project Officer, 2 years of which should be in related fields
- Experience of working with SMEs, Government officials, local communities and/or donors at all levels
- Strong Planning & Organising; Facilitating and coordinating; Good English skills
