Senior Inward Investment Specialist

The British Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City is part of a world-wide network of 230 Posts, representing British political, economic, trade and consular interests overseas. We are currently looking to recruit an Senior Inward Investment Specialist – Grade C5(L) to join the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) team in Ho Chi Minh City for a period of 15 months.

The jobholder will promote the UK as the destination of choice for Vietnamese investors.  S/he will develop a pipeline of potential inward investment clients and will convert a number of potentials in actual high value investments. The successful applicant will play a lead role in advising and supporting Vietnamese HNWIs and businesses seeking to invest so that they will recognise the UK as their market of choice.

Main Duties

• Work with the UKTI team in Vietnam and London in developing and implementing an inward investment strategy and business plan to identify potential Vietnamese foreign direct investors into the UK and to deliver investment(s) of over £1 million.
• Act as UKTI Vietnam’s expert source of advice and information on the UK marketplace through research and contact-building. Identify opportunities for inward investment by developing a pipeline of future investment opportunities from Vietnam to the UK. 
• To work with the UKTI Marketing and Events team in the planning and delivery of promotional events and campaigns to promote the UK as the market of choice for Vietnamese investors.
• Effectively and proactively develop networks and relationships with UKTI regional and London colleagues, and key stakeholders including Vietnamese businesses as well as multipliers in the Financial and Professional Services and Vietnamese HNWIs.
• Set up and maintain a high quality management information system to monitor output in meeting targets and performance, particularly through the effective use of UKTI’s customer relationship management system.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Essential

• Degree level education, preferably in business, marketing, or economics
• Excellent written and spoken English and Vietnamese
• 3-5 years experience of working in a relevant business development discipline
• Experience in project management
• Be prepared to routinely travel within Vietnam and on occasion within the region and to the UK
• Willing to attend occasional events outside normal working hours

Desirable

• Market research experience
• Knowledge and experience of the international business environment
• Experience of working in or closely with the private sector
• Good knowledge of the UK/Vietnam business environment
• Some knowledge and experience of trade and investment work

The monthly salary for this position starts at US$ 2,482.
