We are looking for committed, result-driven individual for the position of: Senior Project Officer, Safeguards & Community engagement – CarBi II project

Major functions: The Senior Project Officer, Safeguards & Community Engagement, is responsible for the planning, establishment and ,implementation of project activities related to Village Development Funds (VDFs), Community Forest Management (CFM), volunteer community-level conservation groups, and management activities related to the ESFM/PF  process, whilst  ensuring compliance with the project document and WWF’s contractual obligations. This includes responsibilities for technical, financial and administrative aspects of the in-field project activities. The field-based officer will also ensure close collaboration among WWF staff across relevant projects, partners, and relevant stakeholders in the project areas.

Base location: Hue or Quang Nam, Vietnam

Key requirements for the role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, agriculture, natural resources management, forestry or other relevant fields
  • Good understanding of CFM and VDFs as important mechanisms in facilitating performance based beneficiation of local communities in participating in development projects. Previous participation in or contributing to the drafting of VDF Technical Guidelines, will be an advantage.
  • Proven track record in the successful planning and operationalization of CFM and VDFs, preferably in a KFW Financial Co-operation project environment.
  • Proven track record in the successful planning and operationalization of progressive community based awareness raising and behavior change interventions.
  • Good understanding of and proven track record in the application of community livelihood development (incl. enhanced NTFPs development, promoting market linkages , etc.) and benefit sharing, as well as Vietnam specific policies and best practice models in these disciplines.
  • Good understanding of and experience in working with the culture, customs, economical & social context of communities in mountainous areas in Central Vietnam, especially the ethnic minority groups living in the project areas.
  • Minimum of 3 years practical experience in implementing natural resource related projects, including strong elements of  conservation and community livelihood development and related fields.
  • Experience of working with local Government authorities.
  • Proven track record of solid financial management and reporting, as well as technical reporting
  • Experience in coordinating research activities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and diplomatic skills with the ability to manage and interact at all levels of an international, multicultural and multilingual organization
  • Networking, coordination, and facilitation skills;
  • Demonstrates WWF behaviors in ways of working: strive for impact, listen deeply, collaborate openly and innovate fearlessly
