The Embassy of Australia in Hanoi is looking for a talented and energetic individual to fulfil the position of LE6 Senior Research Officer (Resources)

Working for the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, the Senior Research Officer (Resources) provides ongoing advice, research, analysis and advocacy on trade and investment in resources and energy between Vietnam and Australia. As a senior position in the Australian Embassy’s economic section, the successful officer will be expected to be pro-active and work under limited direction with a high level of autonomy. The position undertakes extensive liaison functions, a very high proficiency of English and Vietnamese communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to successfully bridge Australian and Vietnamese work cultures, is essential. The position covers a broad wide range of ever-changing and evolving issues.

Applicants should have experience or strong understanding of the resources, mining, mining equipment, technology and services (METS) and energy sectors, strong judgement and decision making,well developed planning and organisational skills, with ability to work independently and meet multiple objectives and deadlines, demonstrated highly developed written and oral communications skills, with fluency in both written and spoken English and Vietnamese languages,well developed interpersonal skills, and established professional network in Vietnam (relevant to the resources industry).

The successful applicant will be offered an initial contract for a 12-month period with an option to renew contract for another 12months.The Embassy will consider flexible work arrangements. The full-time monthly gross salary ranges from VND 52,031,756 to VND 58,562,200, depending on skills and experience.
