SENIOR RESEARCHER - Full time job vacancy

Development and Policy Research Center (DEPOCEN) is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Senior Researcher for the company. 

DEPOCEN was established in 2005 as an independent research organization and has earned a prominent reputation in the South-East Asian policy research and consultancy community for its high-quality work on a wide range of socio-economic issues including poverty analysis, macroeconomic policy, business and investment environment, econometric modeling and forecasting, trade liberalization, communication, environmental issues, survey methods (quantitative and qualitative), and project evaluation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the Chief Economist in conducting research and consultancy projects;
  • Work with project teams in economics and interdisciplinary projects;
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research projects;
  • Process and analyze quantitative data (using STATA) and/or undertake qualitative analysis;
  • Write project reports and research proposals in English and Vietnamese;          
  • Contribute to collaboration between the company and company’s clients;
  • Provide training/coaching as necessary;
  • Supervise the company’s junior staff in specific research projects; and
  • Travel for work, as required (domestic and international).

The selected candidate is expected to have:

  • An advanced university degree (Master level or higher) in economics or related fields such as social sciences, statistics, or econometrics.
  • Strong quantitative background in economics/development and applying quantitative research software.
  • Extensive qualitative background in social sciences and social studies.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good command of English (with strong writing and communication skills).
  • Strong capacity to perform work independently.
  • Enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary academic environment with an ability to foster team spirit.

Preference will be given to candidates with a degree from a well-known university and proven experience in management in complex environments.

Salary: Compensation is competitive and based on candidate’s expertise.
