Senior Technical Officer, Laboratory Science

FHI 360 is an international, non-governmental organization that works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health, provincial health services, and local non-government organizations to promote the health and well-being of the Vietnamese people, particularly vulnerable and marginalized populations. In Vietnam, FHI 360 is currently building the capacity of local organizations in HIV prevention, care & treatment, drug treatment policy & practice, clinical research for the development of vaccines and drugs, maternal and child health and nutrition, diagnostics, and laboratory services.

We are currently seeking qualified and highly motivated Vietnamese nationals for a laboratory sciences project in Ho Chi Minh City. The vacant proposal position to be filled is Senior Technical Officer, Laboratory Science.

• Plan, and conduct assessments, audits, and accreditation-ready inspections of clinical laboratories performing services for FHI 360 research and programs.
• Prepare reports and conduct follow-up visits to include corrective actions and capacity building initiatives.
• Further assist with laboratory capacity building initiatives within Vietnam by preparing and delivering training programs.
• Coordinate and facilitate the clinical laboratory quality improvement program including preparing laboratories for ISO 15189 or SLMTA/SLIPTA accreditation.
• Coordinate and support selection, procurement, distribution, and maintenance of laboratory supplies and instrumentations for laboratories, performing services and duties for FHI 360 projects.

Qualifications and requirements for the positions:

• Medical Doctor or Master’s degree in biological or laboratory sciences within a clinical or diagnostic discipline or specialty or equivalent.
• At least seven years related work experience within a clinical laboratory including experience with laboratory quality control and quality assurance systems and implementation
• Proven training and mentoring experience
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills in both Vietnamese and English
• Computer literate with strong skills in use of MS office package (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Ability to travel as necessary
