Short time Contract for Full time Designer

As part of the One United Nations Team in Viet Nam, UNESCO is supporting the country in building an inclusive, resilient and sustainable learning society within the framework of the One Plan 2012-2016.

UNESCO is now recruiting a full-time designer to develop illustrations, animations, layouts and other requested products for the production of two e-learning courses: (i) on Biodiversity Conservation and (ii) on Disaster Risk Reduction. The training courses will be web-based, both online and offline via distance learning. These activities are being conducted within a Ministry of Education and Training, UNESCO and Samsung Education for Sustainable Development Initiative in Viet Nam. He/she will be working under the authority and supervision of the Representative of UNESCO to Viet Nam and in coordination with the E-learning Specialist.

Tasks:

The selected candidate will:

  • Work closely with UNESCO staff, MOET focal points and the production team to design layouts for presentation of the materials on selected software, and develop required pictures, creating conceptual figures, 2D and 3D figures, rendering postures, and producing animations. 
  • Ensure the suitability and appropriateness of designs to the Vietnamese context, and ensure that all designs are user-friendly and easy to understand for primary school teachers.
  • Work with UNESCO team to design layout for reports and guidelines produced by the Office.
  • Perform any task as deemed appropriate by the Head of Office

Duration of work: 20 October 2014 – 15 December 2014

Profile:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A bachelor degree or equivalent qualifications in Fine Arts or relevant fields
  • Relevant experience working as a designer and producing illustrations and other materials for educational purposes.
  • Excellent technical and artistic skills in creating both 2D and 3D animations
  • Strong verbal, visual and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capacity to work in a team-oriented environment;
  • Excellent organizational, networking and partnership building skills, tact and discretion;
  • Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and in a self-motivated manner;
  • Oral and written communication skills in English are an asset.
