Technical Psychologist
Job Title: Technical Psychologist
Based at: Center for Women and Development, 20 Thuy Khue ST, Hanoi
Peace House Shelter Project, run by Center for Women and Development – a subordinate unit of Vietnam Women’s Union, was established as a joint effort by Vietnam Women’s Union and Spanish Agency for International Development Co-operation (AECID) to combat trafficking in persons by providing assistance to trafficking victims. Need-based support services including safe accommodation, health care, counseling, vocational training, legal aids and job placement are provided for women and children who are victims of trafficking in persons. As a pilot model established in 2007, the Project has so far supported more than 240 trafficking victims from different provinces and backgrounds across the country.
The Project seeks to recruit the following position to support its activities:
Position title: Consultancy Service, Technical Psychologist to Peace House Shelter Project supporting victims of trafficking in persons
Expected starting date: July 2013
Duration of Assignment: 1 year
Position reports to: Shelter Manager, Director and Director Assistant
Job Purpose: Psychosocial support to all the PHS services, staff and meetings and counselling trafficked in persons to:
1.Free themselves from the anxiety and depression brought on by their stressful and sometimes traumatic experience, and
2.Enable them to begin the process of rebuilding their self-esteem and self-confidence.
Key responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Responsible of the provision of Psychological Services to Shelter residents.
- Coaching Social Workers in detection and management of their cases.
- Coaching Social Workers and shelter manager in the implementation of the vocational training individual plan, due the need of residents and staff to be supported in behaviour changes, self-awareness, self-confidence, self-empowering and development of senses of responsibility and effort.
- Supervision support to the shelter manager in the case management and activities in the Shelter. Supportive in substance abuse residents, behaviour problems, life skill planning, psychosocial support, group therapy,…
- Technical Support to the high experience counsellors in the Counsellor Room, who request high technical skills professional to supervise, coach and train them.
- Support and Coordinate the Capacity Building Plan for Psychosocial Service with Head of Counsellors. Been able to realize a needs assessment.
- Creation of a fluid, supportive and positive circuit of psychological support at all levels and activities of the shelter, which empower the activities, reintegration and support to resident daily.
- 10 year experience in support the supervision for Case Management and gender base violence cases.
Requirements:
- Able to train family therapy, cognitive therapy and basic clinical counselling support.
- Experienced in Capacity Building for staff working with behavioural problems and emotional dysfunctions.
- Clinical Psychologist (Psychology degree) with 15 years social work experience,
- Clinical Psychologist (Psychology degree) with 5 years of clinical support directly to clients.
- 10 years experience in SGBV, GBV and trafficking in persons.
- 10 year experience in support the supervision for Case Management and gender based violence cases.
- Able to understand and implement psychosocial supportive circuits in shelters with international standards.
- 10 years experience in coaching for counsellors and social workers,
- Perfect understanding trafficking and GBV laws in Vietnam, trafficking systems, services, circuits and national strategies.
- Able to work independently and in different roles.
- Experience in cognitive behaviour with adolescents and women offering supportive behaviour change awareness .Able to train in alternatives therapies: life skills, positive therapy, and life coaching.
- Full time and able to commit intensively minimum 1 year.
- Able to handle positive job environment and supportive in problem solving.
- Good knowledge of English and fluent in translation.
The initial appointment period will be for one year with the possibility of renewal subject to performance assessments, funding and project’s final duration.
