Trainer on Pre-Harvesting Techniques in Ben Tre and Ninh Thuan Provinces

TRAINER ON PRE-HARVESTING TECHNIQUES

SOCODEVI, the Société de coopération pour le développement international, is a network of cooperatives and mutuals that share technical expertise and know-how with partners in developing countries in order to create, protect and distribute wealth. SOCODEVI is a Canadian not-for-profit corporation for international development established in Vietnam since 2002.

The Vietnam Cooperative Development Project (VCED) is a newly Project managed by SOCODEVI and financed by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) of Canada. Project duration is of5 years ending on March 2020.

The Vietnam Cooperative Enterprise Development (VCED) project is working on 4 commodities in 5 provinces: pomelo in Ben Tre, table grape in Ninh Thuan, dragon fruit in Binh Thuan, dairy milk in Soc Trang and Lam Dong. Agronomy component means to assist farmers to do sustainable production while increase yield and product’s quality responding to market requirements.

CONSULTANT REQUIREMENT

VCED project is seeking for local consultants to train Coops’ personnel and members on post-harvest techniques with following contents and outputs.

Training contents
All these contents should be tailored accordingly to practical production scales and available resources of the Coops:

• Post-harvest treatments: what should be noticed during harvesting process (collecting fruits at members’ farms, shipping fruits to Coop place, washing fruits, etc.) to maintain fruit quality, and how to do (procedure, tools)
• Packaging: proper package materials and procedure, recommending technology/ tools for
• different shipping distances and on-shelve time.
• Storage: proper systems, associated equipment and procedure to store in different time slot.

Expected outputs: cover all requirements mentioned in above section

• Training materials: full Word documents, PPT presentations
• Training report

Time and location

Time: within December 2017 with a total number of working day not exceeding 10 days. These days including revising training materials (3 days) + conducting training (1 day) + writing report (1 day).
Hence, it make 5 days for Ben Tre and 5 days for Ninh Thuan.

Location: in the respective provinces (Ben Tre – pomelo and Ninh Thuan – Table grapes)

Required qualifications and experiences

The consultants should meet the following requirements:

• Profound knowledge on post-harvesting techniques
• Experience in post-harvesting activities in pomelo and table grapes productions
• Experience in working with agricultural coops
• Experience in conducting trainings for farmers and local stakeholders
