Vacancies with SODI (Solidarity Service International)

SODI (Solidarity Service International) is a German non-profit organization working on humanitarian UXO clearance and integrated development in Vietnam since 1998 in Thua Thien Hue and Quang Tri province. We are looking for qualified candidates to fulfill the following 2 positions:

(1) Quality Assurance Officer, and (2) Survey Officer, based in A Luoi District, Thua Thien Hue Province.

1. Quality Assurance Officer 

Main responsibilities: 

- To conduct internal quality assurance in accordance with SODI SOP’s;
- To support SODI project management in validating practices and operational procedures for UXO clearance so that they are appropriate, and will achieve the stated requirement in a safe, effective and efficient manner;[email protected]
- To conduct tests/evaluations of new de-miners prior gaining operational status according to SODI SOP;
- To provide advice and assistance to SODI Quality Management Manager, Project Manager and Team Leaders reference internal quality assurance;
- To provide advice and assistance to SODI Project Manager reference technical aspects of UXO clearance;
- To monitor the Battle Area Clearance Team and Mobile Team in accordance with SODI SOP;
- To monitor the UXO clearance; monitoring should involve structured discussions with management on different levels and with de-miners, as well as formal inspections of reports and records;
- To report directly to the SODI Quality Management Manager, Project Manager concerning the internal quality assurance of the teams regarding EOD, Small Area BAC, Large Area BAC, Medical, MRE, Survey, Completion of clearance task’s, TechBase reports, Post Clearance Inspection;
- To cooperate with the Project Manager, Team Leader and Operation Officer to conducting Post Clearance Assessments and Task Impact assessments;
- To undertake other duties as may be assigned by the Quality Management Manager, Project Manager or Programme Manager;

Desired qualifications:

- Relevant higher education
- Experience in quality assurance work,
- Team leader for UXO clearance team for more than 03 years (certified EOD qualification);
- Experience from Quality Management system (ISO 9001:2008) is an advantage.
- Training in ISO 9001:2008 is an advantage.
- Skills on planning, reporting is necessary.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills is desired.
- Written and verbal proficiency in English is desired.
- Good command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Power point).

2. Survey Officer

Main responsibilities: 

- Mapping including sketch maps; collecting information and transfer the information to sketch maps.
- To support SODI Commune Focal Points in conducting commune and village mapping;
- Marking of UXO locations.
- Community liaison before, during and after clearance operations.
- Liaison with Commune representatives; SODI Commune Focal Points.
- To conduct non-technical survey; households interviews; and Mine Risk Education.
- Survey reporting.
- Support both the clearance teams and SODI Commune Focal Points through monitoring and evaluation of the use of forms according to standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
- Providing support to the IT/Database Officer in the form of pre-entry quality assurance of the accuracy and completeness of forms.

Desired qualifications:

- Relevant higher education.
- Good command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Power point), Google Earth, KMZ, JPS and ArcGIS is desired.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with experience from inter acting on community level is desired.
- Written and verbal proficiency in English is necessary.

These positions are 100% in addition to that there are requirements to travel and stay overnight occasionally. Working evenings is also required occasionally.

Location: These positions will be mainly based in A Luoi District, Thua Thien Hue province, with frequently travel to SODI office in Hue city.
