Writing and Documentation Consultant
Consultant solicitation
Title: Writing and Documentation Consultant
Duration: Short Term consultancy (maximum 12 days LOE)
Job Location: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Southeast Asia; Remote Work
Company location: Vietnam
Project: USAID/PATH Healthy Markets
Approximate Start date: November 10
Approximate End date: November 30
Background
PATH is a global organization that works to accelerate health equity by bringing together public institutions, businesses, social enterprises, and investors to solve the world’s most pressing health challenges. With expertise in science, health, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales solutions—including vaccines, drugs, devices, diagnostics, and innovative approaches to strengthening health systems worldwide.
PATH is seeking a consultant to support the writing of a final report for closing out the USAID/PATH Healthy Markets project. The report will be disseminated to all project stakeholders as well as to the general public.
USAID/PATH Healthy Markets is an eight-year initiative (2014-2021) funded by USAID that is supporting Vietnam to achieve the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals by 2030 and to transition from a HIV response that is largely subsidized by international support to one that is sustainable in the long-term. This involves facilitating a viable commercial market that can promote access to those most at risk of HIV. Working closely with community-based organizations, social enterprises, manufacturers, distributors, private health-care providers, and national and local government, Healthy Markets is improving private-sector engagement and local investment in the market for condoms and other HIV-related goods and services; increasing demand for HIV-related goods and services among key populations; and generating increased private-sector supply of high-quality commodities and services that are accessible and affordable.
Scope of work:
The consultant will help document Healthy Markets successes and contribute to global knowledge of HIV interventions through the development of a final report. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Writing and producing a report that covers the key achievements and activities along Healthy Markets eight years of operation. The consultant will work closely alongside Healthy Markets technical experts and PATH communications staff in preparing the report. The report will be in English only.
- Coordinating with the project’s communications team to gather photos, videos, and other materials to support report writing needs.
- Gathering and consolidating information from multiple sources, including existing project briefs, success stories, and technical reports, to develop the report.
- Coordinating with project’s communications team to ensure deliverables are well-formatted and have appropriate graphics and/or photos and meet donor branding and marking requirements.
Deliverables (assumes one-month contract):
- Preparation, drafting, and revision of one draft report (estimated 20-25 pages).
PATH anticipates that the required deliverables will take up to 12 days of LOE during the one-month contract.
Experiences & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, research, public health, or related field
- Demonstrated ability to critically analyze and consolidate information from multiple sources and prepare technical yet easy-to-read content.
- Demonstrated experience working on HIV / Health / Development issues, NGO/CBO/civil society in countries in the Southeast Asia and Greater Mekong Region, and with international donors
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, including in the areas of presentation and briefs/success stories writing, with ability to tailor content to specific audiences including lay people.
Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, this work can be done remotely, though a preference is given to candidates based in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, or elsewhere in the SE Asia region. Consultant must be able to provide their own computer, which must have access to Microsoft Office or compatible software. The consultant will provide a maximum of 12 days support between November 10 – November 30, 2021.
The closing date for application is October 29, 2021. Applicants should submit their application package to Ms. Zoe Humeau via email at [email protected]
