Through the Business Partnerships Platform (BPP) program, Australia has invested AUD9.5 million ($6.3 million) in Vietnam since 2016 to support climate change initiatives, highlighted at the Climate Investment Networking Day in the southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City.
The October 23 event, which attracted over 100 representatives from various sectors, aims to connect innovation ecosystems for climate change response, said Australian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City Sarah Hooper. She added that it also provided opportunities for partnerships in Vietnam’s carbon market and green development strategy.
In addition to showcasing partnerships under the BPP program, the event provided a platform for climate change-focused businesses to present carbon reduction projects.
Since 2016, the BPP has supported 16 private sector initiatives to address climate change, develop a sustainable carbon market, and improve outcomes for local communities, particularly by enhancing the roles of women and people with disabilities.
The program has also attracted AUD14.2 million in matching funds from partners.
