Three among the six underway transport projects funded by official development assistance (ODA) in Vietnam remained sluggish by the middle of December, according to the Transport Construction Investment Management Authority under the Ministry of Transport.
Specifically, the Northern Mountain Provinces Transport Connectivity Project, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Australian government, was 20% behind the revised schedule.
Meanwhile, subproject 1A under the first phase of Tan Van-Nhon Trach road, funded by the South Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), was also 2.3% behind schedule.
The Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway, funded by ADB and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), lagged 7% behind its schedule.
The authority attributed the sluggishness to slow site clearance, sand shortage, rising costs, and issues related to contractors. (Bao Giao Thong)
