The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) plans to finance over VND5.73 trillion ($238.75 million) for a VND8.78-trillion transport project in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta City of Can Tho, heard at a recent meeting between JICA representatives and local authorities.
Of the sum, VND2.16 trillion will be allocated for upgrading a 10.2-kilometer section of National Highway 61C running through Can Tho City and nearly VND6.62 trillion for building a 25.5-km road connecting Can Tho City and Hau Giang province.
The government is expected to sign a funding agreement in the second quarter (Q2) of 2026. The project’s construction is scheduled to begin in 2027 and be completed by 2030. (BNews, VOV English)
