Many Vietnamese universities are expanding semiconductor-related programs to address the growing demand for skilled professionals, local media reported.
Specifically, Hanoi National University of Education plans to enroll 4,995 students in the 2024-2025 academic year and has introduced five new programs, including Semiconductor Physics and Engineering. Other universities, including Ton Duc Thang University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, have also developed semiconductor-focused courses.
The University of Engineering and Technology will offer three semiconductor-related specializations, while Vietnam-Japan University will enroll 100 students in 2025.
Vietnam’s semiconductor industry requires 10,000 engineers annually, but the current workforce meets less than 20% of this demand, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC).
Analysts project that the domestic semiconductor market will grow by $1.65 billion between 2021 and 2025, though the industry faces challenges in training skilled labor. (VnExpress)
