A Vietnamese delegation participated in UNESCO’s Sixth International Conference on Learning Cities held from December 3 to December 5 in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, state media reported.
The delegation included representatives from three cities, namely Vinh City in central Nghe An province, Sa Dec City in Mekong Delta’s Dong Thap province, and Son La City in northern Son La province. The officials showcased initiatives addressing climate change, digital inclusion, and sustainable development.
Representatives from Son La City delivered a presentation on effective financial models for climate change mitigation and education for sustainable development, emphasizing community-driven approaches. The presentation highlighted resource mobilization and public capacity-building strategies aligned with local cultural practices.
Officials from Vinh City addressed efforts to bridge the digital divide as part of its global learning city development. They also mentioned ways to enhance digital access for residents, while stressing intergenerational education’s role in preserving traditional values.
The Vietnamese delegation also participated in cultural and educational exchanges, fostering collaboration with other cities in UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities. (Giao Duc Thoi Dai)
