Vietnam and Denmark agreed to expand cooperation in resource management, environmental protection, and adequate water and waste management, particularly in wastewater and plastic waste treatment, state media reported.
They reached the agreement during a meeting between Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and Danish Minister of Environment and Gender Equality Magnus Johannes Heunicke on November 25, as part of the Vietnamese senior official’s visit to Denmark.
Deputy PM Ha emphasized Vietnam’s interest in Denmark’s expertise in sustainable development and green transition. He highlighted Denmark’s ongoing support in tackling climate challenges through energy and environmental projects, while confirming Vietnam’s readiness to collaborate with Denmark in dealing with plastic pollution.
The Vietnamese Deputy PM also sought Denmark’s backing for Vietnam’s 2025 P4G Summit, proposing collaboration on the theme and event organization. He invited Minister Heunicke to visit Vietnam for the summit.
For his part, Minister Heunicke supported Vietnam’s P4G Summit initiatives and proposed bilateral cooperation in addressing global plastic waste issues.
He also stressed that Denmark is committed to helping Vietnam improve resilience in vulnerable communities, especially in the Mekong Delta region. (Bao Chinh Phu)
