Vietnam’s Ministry of Health has proposed fines of VND1 million -VND2 million ($41.67-$83.33) for the use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco, local media reported.
The proposal was made in the health ministry’s draft decree on amending regulations on administrative violations in the health sector.
Under the draft, repeat offenders could face double fines.
The National Assembly announced Resolution 173/2024/QH15 calling for a ban on the production, trade, importation, possession, transportation, and use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco starting in 2025 to safeguard public health and social order. However, there are no administrative penalties yet for “possession” or “use” of these products. (Bao Thanh Hoa)
