Vietnam’s Ministry of Health has proposed new regulations for online retail of medications, aiming to enhance safety and oversight in the e-commerce sector.
The first key provision is that pharmacies must provide online consultations to guide customers on proper medication use before completing any sale.
The second one is that pharmacies engaging in e-commerce must inform their local Department of Health in writing prior to commencing online sales.
The third rule is that pharmacies are required to implement IT systems that ensure traceability of medication origins and pricing, facilitate communication with customers and suppliers, and enable data sharing with regulatory bodies upon request.
The last one is that medications sold online must be packaged securely to prevent unauthorized access, and both transportation methods and personnel must adhere to stringent security protocols.
These proposed measures are part of a draft circular amending previous regulations on good pharmacy practices, distribution, and storage of medications.
The health ministry is currently seeking public feedback on these proposals to refine and finalize the regulations. (Bao Chinh Phu, Suc Khoe Doi Song, Lao Dong)
