The Vietnamese Ministry of Health has advised that preschools and primary schools may consider temporary closures if air quality index (AQI) levels remain hazardous for three consecutive days, local media reported.
The recommendation follows observations from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, which reported worsening air pollution in Hanoi. In some instances, AQI values have reached unhealthy levels.
To mitigate the harmful effects of air pollution on public health, the Department of Health Environment Management under the Ministry of Health has developed guidelines for preventing and reducing health risks related to air pollution based on AQI levels.
The guidelines emphasize that when air quality reaches poor levels, it can negatively impact health, particularly for vulnerable groups, and thus outdoor activities should be minimized or avoided to reduce exposure to pollutants. (CafeF, Suc Khoe Doi Song)
