For the first time in Vietnam, doctors have successfully performed endoscopic brain tumor removal through an eyebrow incision on two patients, local media reported.
This technique is part of a state-level research project on minimally invasive neurosurgery, approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The goal is to enhance treatment methods while minimizing invasiveness and risks for patients.
Two to three decades ago in Vietnam, skull base surgeries required a 20-25 cm cranial opening and the use of a microscope. With this new approach, surgeons make a small incision along the eyebrow, insert an endoscope for improved lighting and visualization, and precisely dissect and remove the tumor.
