Vietnam PM Asks Authorities to Regulate Private Tutoring, School Admissions

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed education authorities and local leaders to strengthen oversight of secondary and high school admissions, as well as regulate private tutoring across Vietnam, state media reported.

Per the dispatch, the PM asked local authorities to finalize admissions policies for the 2025-2026 academic year by February to ensure schools, teachers, and students have sufficient time to prepare for the upcoming enrollment period.

To ease admission pressure, the PM requested local governments to allocate funding and mobilize private sector investments to expand school infrastructure. The direction aims to prevent student overcrowding and guarantee universal education access, particularly in large cities.

The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) is tasked with overseeing admission compliance and private tutoring enforcement. The ministry will also review and update admissions and private tutoring policies, adapting them to meet current educational needs and closing enforcement loopholes.  (VietnamNet, Dai Bieu Nhan Dan, lifestyle.znews.vn, VnExpress, CAND)
