Vietnamese Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan has proposed setting up an international partnership to advance digital transformation in healthcare during the “Digital Health Transformation Partnership in Vietnam to 2030” meeting, local media reported.
At the event jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) in Vietnam, Minister Lan appointed Deputy Minister Nguyen Tri Thuc as the lead coordinator for the health sector’s digital transformation initiatives.
The Department of International Cooperation will serve as the focal point for gathering input from international partners, with a draft proposal expected by January 2025. The Department of Science, Technology, and Training will oversee technical matters.
Minister Lan underscored the critical need for collaboration and support from ministries, agencies, organizations, and development partners in digitizing Vietnam’s healthcare system. She added that the expertise, experience, and practical lessons from other countries and partners will serve as invaluable resources, bolstering the Ministry’s capacity and resources for digital transformation.
Dr. Angela Pratt, WHO representative in Vietnam, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting Vietnam, including through policy development and facilitating dialogue on key challenges. (Suc Khoe Doi Song)
