Vietnam Requires $17B in ODA for Green Growth: WB

Vietnam requires $17 billion in official development assistance (ODA) to support green growth and sustainable development, said the World Bank (WB)’s Country Director for Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia Mariam Sherman.

The funds will target infrastructure, capacity building, and climate change adaptation, with the aim of improving living standards and achieving long-term development goals.

From 2016 to 2020, $826 million in ODA funded agricultural and climate-focused projects, with $662 million allocated for sustainable growth. For 2021-2025, $2 billion is planned for new projects.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development oversees 112 ongoing aid projects worth $300 million, with an additional 32 projects under review. Major donors include the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and partners from Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, the UK, the U.S., New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and France.
