Vietnam’s Health Ministry is gathering public input on a draft decree amending the government’s Decree 15/2018/ND-CP on food safety regulations, local media reported.
The draft expands its scope to include organizations providing food aid for charity and introduces a definition for “supplemented food,” allowing only ingredient disclosures without health claims. It also clarifies that only manufacturers, owners, or authorized entities can register food products.
The ministry pointed out unclear regulations have led to exaggerated product claims and fraudulent registrations. From 2021 to 2024, authorities received nearly 30,000 health supplement registrations but found many businesses misrepresenting their marketed products. (Suc Khoe Doi Song)
