Vietnam proposes further support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to sustain forestry development, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Quoc Tri.
The official made the proposal while hosting Director of USAID Vietnam Aler Grubbs and Senior Executive Director of WWF Global Offices Prasanna De Silva in Hanoi on October 15.
Deputy Minister Tri suggested the USAID and the WWF support Vietnam in modernizing forest management with new equipment, as well as increasing training and exchange programs for rangers and national park staff.
In reply, Ms. Aler Grubbs noted USAID’s active cooperation with Vietnam, as the organization provided hundreds of millions of USD in the past five years for forestry, disaster response, and climate change adaptation programs. She also commended Vietnam’s progress in conservation, indicating a productive partnership.
WWF’s Prasanna De Silva acknowledged Vietnam’s ongoing efforts to support biodiversity initiatives. She emphasized the potential for continued collaboration in forest management and developing protected areas and national parks.
