The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Vietnamese government have identified some key priority areas to support the country’s health sector, said WHO Representative in Vietnam Dr. Angela Pratt.
These include institutional reforms and policy development to create an efficient, sustainable, equitable, and high-performing healthcare system; strengthening grassroots healthcare as a foundation for universal health coverage; enhancing pandemic preparedness; and addressing health risk factors while improving resilience to climate change, Dr. Angela Pratt added.
Progress in these areas will help elevate Vietnam’s position as a regional leader in healthcare within ASEAN, the WHO representative highlighted.
The recent inauguration of the WHO Collaborating Center for Pandemic Preparedness and Clinical Management of Infectious Diseases at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases further solidifies Vietnam’s expanding role in global health security, she commented, believing that the center provides a strong foundation for deeper and more effective future collaboration between Vietnam and WHO.
